MISC: Free Video: TED Talks and Gapminder
May 29, 2009
So here are some links. I may do an actual content update tomorrow, but for now 2 very good sources of video.
TED Talks
www.ted.com
The site’s tagline is ‘Ideas worth spreading’ and for the most part I agree. These videos feature the world’s best and brightest and they all have ideas, many of them unique and fascinating. The site’s administration posts a video from the annual TED conference every day, and there are numerous videos archived. The videos can be watched online or downloaded in either a video or audio format.
Gapminder Videos
http://www.gapminder.org/videos/
This site is the video selection of the interesting Gapminder website. It uses statistics to show the gap between various societies, particularily the gap between the 1st and 3rd world. To be honest, I have not actually watched any video on Gapminder, but I have used other portions of the site and watched the founder Hans Rosling’s talks on TED. Unfortunately, without using some sort of hack, there is no way of viewing Gapminder’s videos offline.
